Lauren made her Broadway debut as Miss Adelaide in the revival of Guys and Dolls. The show opened to the general public March 1, 2009 at the Nederlander Theater. It ended its run on June 14, 2009 after 28 previews and 113 performances.

Actress Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie on Gilmore Girls, once stated that Lauren had about 700 pages of dialogue per week while filming the show. McCarthy has said in previous interviews that Lauren was as close to having a photographic memory as possible, and the series would have been impossible without her.

In 2007, after Gilmore Girls ended, Lauren accepted a reported seven-figure deal with NBC to star in a series that was being developed specifically for her. However, due to the writers strike the deal ended amicably.

In the 2007 family comedy Evan Almighty, Lauren’s more faith-driven character is a considerable contrast from her role in Gilmore Girls, where religion wasn’t a part of her life at all, and in fact, the subject was subtly poked fun at by Lorelai and Rory in various episodes.

Lauren played the flute as a child.

While filming the 2007 film Because I Said So, there was a scene that required Lauren and her co-stars Diane Keaton, Piper Perabo, and Mandy Moore to walk around in their underwear. This proved to be awkward scene for many people, but especially Lauren, who has been quoted saying “We’re all in our underwear, and it’s just not right.” You can sense Lauren’s discomfort when you watch the scene; she is shown in her underwear for literally one second, and then she quickly puts on a robe, while her three co-stars linger a while before covering themselves up.

Of the two main men that have played perhaps the biggest roles in Lorelai Gilmore’s life on Gilmore Girls, Lauren has acknowledged that she is closer with David Sutcliffe (Christopher Hayden) than Scott Patterson (Luke Danes)–although the TV show’s plot would tell a different story.

Starting with the Season 7 episode To Whom It May Concern and continuing through out the rest of the season, Lauren was made a producer on Gilmore Girls, in what was supposed to be an attempt to persuade her to sign for an eighth season.

Lauren did voice-over commercials for the American Express Plum Card and also for Kellogg’s Special K products.

Actor Jeff Bridges taught Lauren how to juggle on the set of the film The Amateurs.

As a child, Lauren was a tomboy and her primary ambition was to become a jockey; she had an imaginary friend that was a small horse named Strawberry. She gave up on this dream when she grew too tall and was been thrown off of a horse multiple times, breaking her toes and wrists on a number of occasions.

Lauren almost didn’t get the part of Lorelai Gilmore on her critically acclaimed series, Gilmore Girls because she had a full season contract with another series titled M.Y.O.B, but the series was cancelled after 4 episodes and Lauren got the role which catapulted her to stardom.

Lauren was intended as the replacement for CSI: Miami star Khandi Alexander’s character, Catherine Duke, in the series, NewsRadio. Lauren had a 4 episode run as “Andrea the Efficiency Expert,” but she tested badly with audiences and she was subsequently written out of the show.

In 2003, Lauren was featured in a commercial for Aquafina with her TV daughter Alexis Bledel from her critically acclaimed series, Gilmore Girls.

Lauren is a honorary member of the Board of Camp Laurel, which is a camp for children living with HIV and AIDS.

Lauren was ranked 13th on E! Online’s “Hollywood’s Bachelorettes: Sexy and Single” 2004 list.

Before making it big Lauren supplemented her income from commercials by teaching SAT prep classes.

Lauren donned several costumes on the Halloween’s of her childhood, including a Coconut, an Upside-Down-Man and a Bluebird. In the latter year, the Bluebird costume wasn’t dry so her father put it in the oven and Lauren went to school with grill marks on her back.

Lauren started her own production company in 2003 called Good Game. She runs the company with Kathy Ebel, a close friend from college.

Lauren did a public service announcement for the organization “Women’s Voices. Women Vote.” The goal of the organization is to get more women to go out and vote.

Lauren’s favorite shows include: Mad Men, Love International, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, 30 Rock, Project Runway, Six Feet Under and Extras. Her favorite classic shows include: The Incredible Hulk, The Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Laverne and Shirley.

When Lauren was growing up her father would take her to the bookstore and buy her as many books as she could carry. To this day Lauren says that she never leaves home without “a book to read if things get boring.”

When Lauren wants to get away from Hollywood she enjoys going to east coast beaches such as Sag Harbor.

Lauren joined “The March for Women’s Lives Celebrity Coalition” in April 2004.

Lauren has a sandwich named after her at Pappa Charlie’s Deli in Williamstown, MA called the Lauren Graham Sandwich. It consists of tomatoes, sautéed peppers, onions, mushrooms, 4 ounces of turkey, and is slid inside a pita with sprouts on top.

Lauren’s hair takes one hour to blow dry straight.

Lauren has always hated the WB frog logo because the frog wore a tuxedo. She felt that since it was a frog, it should wear something more casual, such as shorts.

Lauren loves Japanese culture. When she was younger she had a Japanese nanny for two years. Her first word as a child was in Japanese.

During her down time on the set of Gilmore Girls Lauren does at least one crossword puzzle a day. She says every morning she is given the crossword puzzles from the New York Times and the L.A. Times, a Sudoku and a pen.

One of Lauren’s actress heroes is Diane Keaton. The two worked together in the film Because I Said So.

Lauren played basketball in junior high and her father was her coach.

Lauren enjoys running and is an active cyclist. Having finished college; Lauren travelled across France and Spain on her bicycle, and to this day Lauren bikes to get from place to place on the Warner Bros Studio lot.

Lauren’s favorite chocolate candy is See’s caramels.

Lauren is a Roman Catholic.

Lauren wears glasses in real life and has on very rare occasions worn them in episodes of her hit show, Gilmore Girls.

Lauren was once offered money to pose nude in Playboy Magazine, but she declined.

While starring in the movie, The Pacifier, along side Vin Diesel, Lauren did her first and only stunt in the movie, in which she was to jump off a wall. Her stunt double was not used for the only stunt in which Lauren’s character had to do, because she hurt her knee while attempting the stunt on the day of the shoot.

Lauren loves watching The Sound of Music. She has even attended the annual sing-a-long at the Hollywood Bowl.

This dream came true in a German Shepherd named Hannah. Before Lauren got her dog, she had a cat named Frank that ran away due to her long hours on Gilmore Girls.

Lauren says that if she could step into the shoes of any rock star for a day, it would be Madonna.

Lauren says that her friends can always count on her to “cook good butterscotch brownies.”

Lauren says that she is in the entertainment business because of the musical Funny Girl.

Lauren worked as a cocktail waitress in New York right before she moved to Hollywood.

Lauren worked as a music camp counselor for many years and the only song she knew how to play on the guitar was “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”
